[fic] The Simple Life ~Chapter 9~

Author: Me >w<

Pairing: Akame / ??/Kame (for now)

Rating: NC – 17

Genre: Romance, Humour, Action (Violence)

Disclaimer : The story is inspired from the drama Last Friends (just a little ) and part of a conversation I had with those pervy Kame addicts: P. The characters are not mine.

Summary: Everyone always tries to hide his true personality. When someone is vulnerable it’s better to wear a mask, to play and overplay, just to prove that everything is fine. This is an encounter between two souls, a man without real purpose and another one whose life is already mapped out.

Chapter 9

His neck was stiffed in a strange position when he woke up on the next day but he felt surprisingly well. He had found his bed ... and he had found his bed? How?

Jin got up, failed to trip on the carpet next to his bed. He was going to shave himself when he turned his head. What he saw him cut off all his desire to move...

Takki had slept really badly that night. He cried a lot before falling to sleep and had nightmares the whole time. He had dreamed of his childhood, of his parents, of Kazuya Kazuya … who was disgusted to see him and who hated him... He wondered when it had all really began. He stood up against his will, and for the first time in years, he didn’t want to see the daylight.

The kitchen seemed so far away, just like the bathroom, and especially his sanity. He went with heavy steps towards the shower and turned it on, not caring about the water which almost froze his blood. A long day awaited him, and he didn’t know if he would be able to confront it.

He felt weak, so he had to sit for a moment against the wall of the bathroom. He raised his head and closed his eyes, letting the water mix with his tears.

Kazuya's back was numb. He fell asleep in a position fairly curled against a wall. Against the wall? He didn’t remember himself leaning against a wall, except when he had returned back .... Jin in his room. Kazuya sighed . Jin was still sleeping, so he should probably disappear before having to face a too-inquisitive-for-his-taste Jin. Then he opened his eyes and almost jumped when his eyes met those of Jin. The latter had his hair in all ways and he was visibly surprised to find the younger one there. He opened his mouth

"I've brought you back"

Jin blinked. Once, twice, then for a third time.

"You fell asleep at the trash near the combini ... and … you ought to take a shower ..."

Kazuya had whispered the last part, and when he saw Jin's shocked face he couldn’t help smiling. "And I stupidly fell asleep here, but I had a very good night." he added.

Jin hadn’t yet muttered even a single word, and he couldn’t quite perceive the surroundings when he saw the face of Kazuya, who seemed ... at ease

Kazuya got up at once, smoothing his clothes, and then turned to Jin.

"I’ve got to go ... I should make breakfast." he smiled again.

Jin contented himself and merely rubbed his eyes, trying to remove the fatigue that was still far too present. Kazuya had smiled twice, and he couldn’t help but thought that perhaps he didn’t felt anymore uncomfortable with the young farmer.

Kazuya was about to open the door when Jin finally decided to speak.

"Uh .." He ran a hand through his hair. He thought that he would probably was going to be sent again to hell, as every time he ‘dared’ to feel concern for the younger man. But oddly, Kazuya smiled.

"I feel better." He left immediately afterwards, without hearing the sigh that Jin held too long inside.

He hadn’t any choice; in fact all his belongings were in his room. Kazuya opened the door slowly, inclining only his head in the room when he saw that the flaps of the windows were open. He was then surprised to see that no one was lying on the bed or was between the large white doors of the cupboard. He finally entered and heard the sound of water from the bathroom. He had to hurry, he didn’t want to deal with Takki, he wasn’t keen on using all his energy in the morning, and he even less wanted to feel the violence of the other on his tender flesh that threatened to break a little more with every following blow.

He took a cami-knicks, some extra clothes and went in a hurry to the door, closing it softly. With a little luck, the day would continue and would end as well as it had begun.

He hoped that the bathroom upstairs was empty, and given the speed with which Jin responded this morning, he had nothing to fear. He smiled ... something he had never stopped doing since he woke up.

Jin sat down. He was still sleepy, but he had to get up. Kazuya was right, he smelled like goat. He took off his t-shirt and threw it in a corner of the room and then took the blue towel that was placed over the heating. Leaving the room, he passed the little mirror on the wall near the cabinet and observed himself in it.

He grunted. The day might be long

The coffee was good, the small buns too, and even the butter that was perhaps a little harsh for Jin’s taste was good. He sat there for about twenty minutes while Kazuya was cleaning the dishes of the day. He couldn’t help looking back at the young man standing in front of him. He seemed normal, he did not flee, and he seemed calm. Jin could even swear that the young man was humming while rinsing the plates of colored clay. Jin turned to the window ... the weather seemed so nice, the sky was so clear. He was out of his reverie when he heard a cow mooing. He raised an eyebrow, oh; he liked the cows so much.

Kazuya turned towards him.

"We're going to start? I'll open the gate."

"Isn't Takki coming?"

Kazuya stopped. He didn’t move.

"He does what he wants." Kazuya continued without looking back.

Jin realized a little too late that he would have done better if he remained silent.

He felt as if someone was banging his head with a hammer. He had decided not to go out today. He didn’t know what he would do if he face Kazuya although the latter probably wasn’t in the farm. Too bad for Jin, it was his rest day, but Takki doubted that it bothered Jin anyway. He drank his glass in one gulp, not feeling the fluid clearing his throat and then laid back. So that was it, the life without Kazuya? He knew it would happen one day, he knew that Kazuya would eventually yield even though he had vowed not to do so.

"He will regret it ..."

"I know ..."

"Mom ...."

"It's his choice."

"He will be miserable .. when we are gone .. and with what his father had asked him to do ..."

"He is doing everything for him, and Etsuko .. for you .."

Takki stood up under the look of the two women before leaving the room silently.

He turned facing the wall and pulled the blanket around him. For the first time in his life he was unable to clear his head off these voices.

Kazuya had difficulties to lift three bags of compost at the same time. He fought with the third bag while the second slipped from his hands and the first one was hurting his back.

"Leave it, I'll help you."

"No, don’t worry, everything’s okay."

When he dropped the third bag and the second one fell to the ground, Jin increased his speed and came to him.

"I told you, everything’s alright." Kazuya whispered.

"You hardly can wear one, so no, it’s not alright. Let me do it." Annoyed Jin interrupted him.

Kazuya had stopped and looked at the young man, who took the two bags like they were bundles of dirty laundry. It was the first time Jin had replied him back. This took him out of his reverie.

"So where do I have to put them?"

He advanced towards him.

Leave them near the gardens, we will find a place for them later."

"You want to have a break for eating?"

Kazuya scattered a little more hay in the large bins. He turned to Jin, awaiting his response.

"Since I’ve arrived here, I’ve never seen you stop even for a while." Jin had returned to Kame, raising one of his eyebrows up in the air.

"Well ok, no breakfast then ... We will eat better tonight!" The younger turned his back to Jin but had no time to take the hay as he was stopped by Jin.

"But if you insist, we can stop!" Jin squeaked.

Kazuya smiled.

A smile which Jin found contagious.

"Have you been a farmer for a long time?"

Jin chewed the onigiri he held in his hand and blew some cool air for the umpteenth time over the boiling noodles.

Kazuya had prepared a quick lunch aiming to re-motivate the older one. He raised his head when he heard Jin talking.

"Yes, for quite long ..."

Jin turned towards him. They were leaning on the fence of the enclosure of horses and the rays of sun had warmed them so much.

".. You've always wanted to be one?"

Jin knew he would perhaps be snubbed, but is curiosity had taken over him.

"No. .."

Kazuya was looking up to the sky, and Jin felt he had his look set at an invisible point between the cream-colored clouds.

"So, then why ...?"

Kazuya was still staring at the sky and when Jin thought he wouldn’t answer, the younger one spoke.

"If I hadn’t done it, all his work would have served for nothing ..."

Kazuya had a little smile on his lips, and Jin hadn’t the courage to ask another one of his questions even if they were bouncing up and down in his head.

"It's strange ... you always look as you are so far away from it all... as it is impossible to know what do you think about.."

Jin had also looked up at the sky, seeking the point which drew all the Kazuya’s attention. He didn’t notice that he had the full attention of the younger one finally at him.

"You're doing it wrong!"

"But I can’t do it!"

"A four year old child could do it!"

"Oiii, you're mean ..."

Jin let go of the steering wheel in frustration.

"It's not hard but ..."

Kazuya continued in a softer voice.

"Look, now, you hold the wheel wrongly, that's why you can barely turn the machine. You have to always take it from above and bring it towards you and don’t let your opposite hand. Try again. "

Jin took the wheel again.

"Here, for example ... turn left here ...."

Jin finally came to make an almost normal turn.

"Raise your hand higher, your hand … higher ... but what are you scared of?"

Kazuya took Jin’s hand and placed it at the top of the huge leather steering wheel. The later froze. Kazuya felt the other stiffness immediately, and slowly withdrew his hands from the steering wheel, seeming much more hurt than he wanted.

Jin turned his head. Why did he react like this? He was always so tense with the younger man around him. Super, he did hurt him again. Jin mentally slapped himself for being so stupid at times.

"It's late, and we have done a lot. Finally, you're not so clumsy!"

Jin whispered shocked.

"Jin, you forgot your gloves."

Kazuya had taken them, and Jin noticed right away how quickly he gave the gloves to him, avoiding any contact with him.

You deserve it!’ The little voice in Jin’s head overwhelmed him even more.

It was night time. Kazuya turned around the kitchen he had just now finished cleaning. Jin had to be asleep, and Takki … he didn’t know about him and didn’t want to know.

He got upstairs to his room and pressed his ear against the door. Breathing, calm. Takki was asleep? He entered the room and stopped at the lump under the pile of the blankets. He slowly opened the wardrobe and took out a pair of pajamas. He needed a shower and wasn’t going to take it there, and even less, he wasn’t going to sleep in that bed. He took his things and headed for the door, casting a last look full of pain toward the older man.

The water in the shower was burning hot, just as he liked it. Kazuya took advantage of the last quiet moment of the day, stretching his limbs still a little sore. He noted that some blues were still too obvious. He yawned.

Sleeping for the first time since a very very long time, Kazuya knew he was going to have a good night.

He passed the door of Jin’s bedroom, where surprisingly the light was still lit. Stopping for a nano second he turned back along the corridor and started walking, just to stop a little bit afterwards. Where was he going? In his pajamas...

In slow steps he came back to the door of Jin’s bedroom and mechanically he tapped softly against the cool wood. A slight "I’m coming" was heard, and Kazuya wondered why he did all this so late.

An almost sleeping Jin opened the door, and in his face the surprise was evident at the sight of Kazuya which seemed so ...troubled and embarrassed.

He waited for Kazuya’a answer, but the later didn’t move and just stared at the floor. He was so eager to dig a hole and hide in it. He wanted to leave, to apologize for disturbing Jin while the older one was sleeping but when Jin took his hand and pulled him inside the room, Kazuya knew he had just taken the right decision.

Love it!
Just love it!!
Things are developing between Kazu and Jin, finally!!
It seems that Kazu is comfortable with Jin enough to go to his room wanting to sleep.
I'm happy that Jin pulled him in without saying anything.
I still don't understand what made Takki become like that, but it seems there is a story behind everything.

Thanks a lot for this wonderful update!
Can't wait for the next update!! *hugs*
