[fic] The Simple Life ~Chapter 8~
Author: Me >w<
Pairing: Akame / ??/Kame (for now)
Rating: NC – 17 Genre: Romance, Humour, Action (Violence)
Disclaimer : The story is inspired from the drama Last Friends (just a little ) and part of a conversation I had with those pervy Kame addicts: P. The characters are not mine.

Summary: Everyone always tries to hide his true personality. When someone is vulnerable it’s better to wear a mask, to play and overplay, just to prove that everything is fine. This is an encounter between two souls, a man without real purpose and another one whose life is already mapped out.

Chapter 8

Jin couldn’t sleep. The mark on Kazuya’s cheek, the tears flowing down from his eyes, his lost look and Takki who was searching for him…. Kazuya was feeling ill? He had never seen anyone to feel dizzy and to end up afterwards with a hand mark on his cheek. He signed. Maybe they had a lover’s quarrel. And Kazuya looked more affected than Takki. But why Kazuya had fled as if his life depended on it. Oddly Jin didn’t regret for lying Takki because he had this premonition that he had to help Kazuya. His head was going to explode while he fell asleep after a day of hard work.

"Here, drink it while it's hot ..."

"Thanks .."

"So you have left. I’m surprised that he isn’t already there."

"You're right .."

Kazuya put the cup on the breakfast counter before bending his legs and hugging his knees in his hands.

"You know it can’t continue like this ..."

"And what can I do?!"

"I don’t know, but I’m not the person to tell you what to do Kazuya, you're old enough."

The old lady went to the far away place of the combini and came back with a box of instant ramen in her hand. She took off the old metal kettle then poured the hot water into the plastic bowl.

"You have to eat."

The old lady started coughing. Kazuya looked up at her but he had no time to move when she already had raised a hand towards him, shaking her head and telling him that all was well.

"It’s better to take care fof your problem first."

She took a pair of wooden tubs that broke quickly and then put them down, facing Kazuya.

"Grandma ..." He began to cry. Even if he felt himself as a complete idiot right now, he knew she would never judge him, and she would always find a way to bring him back on his feet.

The old lady approached him and ran a hand through his hair. He began to cry louder. Staying next to her while she pushed his hair back and made him look up. She handed him a handkerchief.

At this moment the silence was the best comfort.

It was nine o'clock when Jin finally left the house. Since this morning he hadn’t crossed paths with anyone but Takki who obviously was in a very bad mood. He had apparently slept just as much as him. Jin had his breakfast in silence and Takki told him he didn’t have to work today. He prepared himself and decided to visit the city.

His stomach was making so much noise. He would even sell his parents for a good amount of takoyaki. Jin was so took into his food fantasies that suddenly he found himself amid nowhere.

"Oh shit .." He turned around. The street that was the same as the one behind him. He decided to shorten his little walk and go back. Perhaps he would find his happiness in the small combini, even though the idea of seeing the old lady was frightening him a little.

The street was again deserted and Jin wondered why he never found anyone in this combini which nevertheless was very well placed. He entered and heard the old lady.

"Irashaimase .." She was standing near a person that Jin recognized immediately. One small curled ball who seemed lost and trying to breathe through countless sobs and tears. He bent quickly  greeting the old lady and saw the little ball was looking up. A shy glance and eyes which were more moist than the last time he had seen them. But worse than this two little misty eyes was the look that was directed to Jin. For a while it was practically necessary to lower his eyes as the other’s one were piercing him.

The old woman coughed a little as if to signal her presence and Kazuya bowed his head in turn, with an expression very similar to suffering.

"I'll get something at the back of the shop, do you need anything young man?" she asked with a small hoarse voice. Jin had forgotten his stomach and shook his head so hard that he thought it would fall. What had happened to Kazuya? He doubted greatly that only a lovers’ quarrel could do that. He didn’t know whether he had to try to understand or to just leave Kazuya. He didn’t know what was better for Kazuya to ask or not to.

Kazuya had such difficulty to breathe. He seemed to be ill ... and it took some time for Jin to realize that the pain wasn’t physical. When he saw that Kazuya didn’t speak, he went within the rows and took the first box he found. Mini-rice cakes.

Turning slowly, he placed the pot on the counter and waited for the old lady to return. Kazuya hadn’t moved at all. Jin didn’t like this kind of atmosphere. It was so painful, that could make you feel bad and it was suffocating.

"I didn’t tell him, I saw you leaving ..."

Kazuya looked up.

"Don’t worry, he knows very well where I am" he whispered, with a bitter laugh.

Jin approached him.

"What happened?"

"Nothing serious."

"And this nothing, had put you in such a state?"

"Listen, you’ve come here to work, haven’t you, so just stick to your original plan."

Jin signed. He was starting to get angry. And damn, he would stay away from it all. It was better if he just shut his mouth up.

When he strayed away, Kazuya did his best to silence the sob that escaped his mouth.

Unfortunately it didn’t pass unnoticed by Jin who nevertheless, chose to leave without looking back.

The small package of rice cakes remained there on the counter full of small trinkets from the old store.

Jin returned almost running to the farm. He was upset but not surprised. He knew he would have been maybe sent anyway. But even he couldn’t stand idly when someone looked so lost. He had never managed to ignore the people who obviously needed help, even if Kazuya and he was far away from being close, he just couldn’t let anyone in such state. Jin almost regretted to be as sensitive to the misfortunes of others, keeping in mind the way he had always been thanked for. Until now he had never succeeded and he wondered if he shouldn’t become so callous and insensible.

He returned without attention Takki who looked surprised to see him so upset.

"Jin ?"

"Yes .."

"You look upset .."

"I just had a hard time finding my way back."

"Oh .."

Takki stood in his turn before Jin had the time to go.

"I must go out, see you for dinner?"

"Yes, you're going in town ...?"

Jin turned around and he could almost guess the next response from the farmer.

"I must go shopping to the combini ..."

When Takki went away, Jin didnt know whether to follow him or not.

If only he had dark glasses, he could most probably go unnoticed, as in movies, Jin thought while he was trying to follow Takki from distance. The latter seemed almost frantic to go to the little store.

Takki opened the door of the little combini and Jin stood at the corner where countless leaves from crawling ivy covered the gray brick wall. Along the way he had done his best for the older one not to see him, even though he didn’t know why he was doing this. Kazuya obviously didn’t want his help, then why was he wasting his time for him.

"Young man?"

Startled, Jin jumped so high and thought he had a heart attack.

The old lady had her head leaning slightly on the side, watching him with amusement.

"Can I help you?" she asked.

"Well, I .." All of a sudden it turned so hot and Jin scratched the back of his skull as a child caught up while stealing candy. This lady had a habit of putting him into a distress. While he was trying to bow politely to the lady he heard a noise like something broke on the ground. He was rushing toward the entrance when the lady stopped him.

"No, it’s not like that .. I'm going."

She slightly pushed Jin with a small smile on her lips. He didn’t dare to reply, but he didn’t move either. He looked at the little figure rolling away before she entered slowly into the store.

Jin's heart beat in a speed of a hundred miles per hour. He had never thought he would find himself in such situation. Concern was mixed with excitement but he didnt like this feeling, he had too often to rub elbows. He listened, even if everything was silent. Suddenly he heard a sound.A sound as someone who was crying. Jin unconsciously grabbed a handful of reddish leaves that decorated the wall. He could almost hear the whispers.

"I remind you that I'm still your grandmother! So dont just come here and make scenes like this, go away."

Jin's eyes were as round as marbles. The old lady was Takki's grandmother ? Jin has found himself again like a fish out of water while trying to assimilate the information. He pressed his full length against the wall, silencing a cry of pain when his face hit the wall. Takki had tumbled out and seemed like he was going to explode from anger.

He had shortness of breath, stuck in his lungs as he ran along the narrow road that was guiding him to his home. His head was full and his mind was empty. When he felt his breathing was shorter than usual, he stopped and sat on a bench that was near by the green road. The grass was present almost everywhere, marking the street as the boundary between the city on one side, and the life in the firm on another. The farmer sat and stared at one point without really looking, his breathing was choppy, his throat - tight ..

.. it was when he had put his hand to his face that he realized he was crying.

"I'm Kamenashi Kazuya ..."

"Hideaki Takizawa"

The younger had stretched his hand towards Takki ..

.. and offered him the brightest smile ...

"Thanks for helping me Takizawa-san"

"Call me Takki, I feel like a grandpa when you say Takizawa-san"

"Excuse me .."

"And stop apologizing, I won’t eat you"

He had removed a lock from his eyes and looked at him tenderly. He thought he would die.

"After that you're bringing it all home, you want people to take a walk?"

Takki took his head between his hands. Tears flowed endlessly, and he couldnt control them. How had he arrived there, how had they gotten there ...

The hand that was on the back of Kame pulled him forward, and he found himself pressed against the young man opposite of him, amidst the poppy fields of the family property Kamenashi. Kazuya felt lips on his, and thanked the gloom which prevented him from seeing Takki's face, so close to his. He was shaking, literally, he who had never really had any talent when it was a propos the feelings. Everything was new to him, and Takki's lips seemed even softer than silk that enveloped the great red petals around them.

Kazuya recoiled slowly as he felt Takki putting a poppy just above his ear. The large warm hand of the young man lingered on his cheek and advanced down toward his hand and wrapped it.

"I love you .."

The tears had stopped, as if by magic. These words, they wondered why they expressed more than he had deserved...

Jin sat against the wall that had apparently become his new friend. He could not go back yet, he definitely wouldn’t want to be back in the tense atmosphere at the farm. The cool breeze made him shiver and he realized he hadn’t taken a jacket. He signed. Of all the farms in Japan, he had to come into the one of a couple with a history too complicated for a mind like his. He had never seen so tortured people, and instantly he wondered if there was no hidden camera behind him that tell him that all these men were only actors and this story in the Farm was just a farce. He leaned his head back and started swaying to keep himself warm, and then fell asleep.

"Kazuya ... what are you going to do?"

"I'm going back ... I'm not going to hide forever .."

"You have to finality stop all this ..."

"I can’t ... you know your gradson better than I do?"

"Yes but .."

"No. .. leave it like this, dont worry .. I haven’t got enough sleep these days so I cracked down . .."

"Kazuya .."

"Do not worry" repeated Kazuya, more for himself than for the old lady.

When Kazuya took out the trash, he really didn’t expect to see two feet coming out from behind the wall of the small house. He approached and stopped facing Jin, who was asleep and shivering. Kazuya returned to the shop in fast speed.

"Grandma, it’s Akanishi-kun ..."

"The young man just now"

"Ah, yes, what about him?"

"He was asleep beside the dustbin"

Kazuya’s expression was showing not only his surprise but also exasperation.

"Oh .. he's probably spending a hard day."

The smile of the old lady appeared, leaving some wrinkles on her forehead and beneath her eyes.

"Tomorrow there's work in the farm, and he have to go back there, you can go there awake him and tell him to leave?"

"You're not going to let such an old lady to go out in so cold night, are you."

"Grandma .."

"Well, I'm tired, I'm going to bed ..."

Kazuya almost began to whine as if someone was going to tell a child that there was no dessert while the little lady went up the stairs with a devilish chuckle mixed with a cough that would apparently not stop.

He shook him for the umpteenth time. Still nothing.

"Akanishi-kun! It's late, you must go back."

Jin moved a little and then slowly opened his eyes. Kazuya was facing him with a worried look.

"You're shaking too much ... what was your idea for trying to sleep here, you have to go back to the house."

Kazuya whispered before reaching a hand towards a too sleepy Jin. Jin rubbed his eyes slowly before giving his hand to the young man who helped him to stand up.

"Your hands are frozen ..."

He has kept the hands a little longer than expected, for warming them in silence. Jin was still disoriented and seemed lost so he didnt notice right away the closeness between him and the youngest.

"Come on, we’re going back..."

Kazuya pulled Jin by the hand, and silently, they returned. No words were exchanged, and he didnt need them. They seemed to avoid interaction with each other, which didnt bother them. Neither one nor the other was in a talkative mood, and the return journey was in silence while Kazuya pulled a groggy Jin, that was completely finished by the cold.
